About Cholesterol Cafe
The    Cholesterol    Cafe    began    as    a    radio    morning-show    comedy    sketch    in    1994    and    was published   and   broadcast   by   writer   Maxey   Bass   (aka:   JB   Tubbs)   and   writer/producer   Ray Palla,   both   from   Austin,   Texas.   Regularly   aired   on   KICK   92   FM   in   Austin,   the   popularity   of the   bits   prompted   listeners   to   telephone   the   radio   station   for   information   about   where   the cafe   was   actually   located.   The   humor   also   encouraging   several   area   restaurants   to   emulate the concept and ideas.                A   variety   of   characters   (waitress-Leigh   Ann;   taxidermist-Head)   and   dozens   of   favorite recipes   emerged   from   the   minds   of   the   writers,   including   tasty   morsels   of:   "Sam   Bass   Fried Cats"   (catfish,   of   course)   and   "Chicken-Fried   Snake   Steak"   (top-secret).   The   originality   of the   menu   is   agelessly   laughable   and   includes   delights   like   "World   Famous   Virgin   Mutton- Fat   Fried   Sushi."   Cholesterol   Cafe’s   sushi   recipe   was   spawned   during   the   historic   kitchen grease fire, which went down the drainpipe out back and caught the creek on fire.
